As each season approaches, the need for continued support from our many fans and community sponsors becomes more and more urgent. The Cotuit Kettleers remain the ONLY Cape Cod Baseball League team to fully maintain its playing field and park without use of public funds.
Since 2004, the Cotuit Athletic Association has invested in a new press box building, a new infield, new third and first base bleachers, new backstop and fencing, new restrooms, and new kitchen. Current plans call for redoing the pavers including a walk of champions, new scoreboard, new office and expansion of the store, as well as resurfacing the entire field. All these projects should be ready by the start of the 2023 season. Expenses for team members’ travel, recruiting, uniforms, and equipment must be met each season, as well as our coaches’ salaries and housing costs.
Our efforts and goals, however, reach beyond the realm of Lowell Park and the Kettleers. In addition to awarding annual $750 college scholarships to area residents, the Association continues to provide Baseball Clinics for over 600 youngsters each summer, sponsors baseball and softball teams in the Barnstable Recreation Youth Baseball League and Barnstable Little League, and provides camp scholarships through Big Sisters and Brothers every summer.
