Quick hitter: Cotuit falls to Wareham on Tuesday night

Score/result: Wareham 5-2 Cotuit F/7.5

Cotuit pitcher of the game: Jake Brooks (UCLA) made his second straight strong start. Brooks worked into the fifth inning as he allowed just one earned run. The right-handed pitcher allowed seven hits, but didn’t walk any batters to limit the damage. Brooks also struck out four batters. The UCLA product has allowed just one earned run in 15.2 IP this season.

Cotuit hitter/hit of the game: Eric Brown Jr. (Coastal Carolina) launched his second homer of the season in the fifth inning to get Cotuit on the board. The home run was a no-doubter over the left-center fence. Brown was 2-2 with a walk, a run scored, and one RBI.

Pitching moment of the game: Max Gieg (Boston College) entered the game out of the bullpen with two men on and no outs in the sixth inning. Gieg induced a 5-3 double play on the first batter he faced. After a walk, Gieg stranded two men on base with a strikeout to keep the Kettleers within three runs of the Gatemen. Gieg worked through the eighth inning and allowed just one ER over three IP with four strikeouts.

Key stat: 7. The Kettleers left seven men on base. Cotuit produced just four hits, but had many chances to claw back into the game. The Kettleers left multiple runners on base in three separate innings.

Cotuit: 2 runs / 4 hits / 2 errors

Wareham: 5 runs / 11 hits / 0 errors
