Score/result: Cotuit 12-5 Wareham
Cotuit hitter of the game: Matt Donlan (UConn) had a fantastic day at the plate for the Kettleers, going 3-3 with an RBI. This was Donlan’s best game of the season, and it could not have come at a better time as every game has massive playoff implications.
Cotuit hit of the game: With the Kettleers up by one in the bottom of the seventh, Noah Bridges (UNC-Wilmington) blasted a no-doubt solo home run to extend the lead to two. This was the UNC-Wilmington product’s first homer on the Cape so far.
Cotuit pitcher of the game: Quinn Mathews (Stanford) tossed six strong innings in Friday’s game, giving up just one run on five hits. The Stanford product had excellent command and was able to attack the Wareham lineup.
Cotuit pitching moment of the game: Trevor Kuncl (George Washington) entered the game with one out and two on in the seventh inning. Wareham had just tied up the game, and was looking to take the lead. Kuncl quickly evaded the Gatemen threat, striking out the first Wareham hitter he saw and forcing a pop-out to end the inning.
Cotuit: 12 runs/14 hits/1 error
Wareham: 5 runs/10 hits/1 error
Up next: The Kettleers will travel to Falmouth tomorrow to take on the Commodores at 6:00 PM
