Preview: Cotuit travels to Falmouth for crucial game

Posted by Katherine Ware
/ July 31, 2021

Game 33: Cotuit (15-16-1) at Falmouth (14-15-2)

Where: Guv Fuller Field

When: 6:00 PM

How-to-watch: https://mixlr.com/cotuit-kettleers-radio-network

Probable Cotuit starter: Jake Brooks (UCLA)

Last game result: Cotuit 12-5 Wareham

After last night’s big win vs. Wareham, the Kettleers are now tied for second place in the west with Falmouth. The two squads will play the first half of a home-and-home series tonight at Falmouth’s Guv Fuller Field. These next two games could make or break both team’s playoff aspirations.

Jake Brooks (UCLA) will get the nod tonight for Cotuit. Brooks has thrown 29.1 innings this season, and has kept his ERA down to 2.14. The UCLA product has only walked three batters all year and has been incredibly impressive since his first start. Brooks will need to be at his best again tonight, as he hopes to give the Kettleers a chance to secure a playoff spot.

The Cotuit offense exploded in the eighth inning of yesterday’s game, putting up seven runs to secure a win over Wareham. Four Kettleers had multiple hits in the game, and Nathan Martorella (California) and Noah Bridges (UNC-Wilmington) each hit home runs.
