Brewster, MA- Despite getting just one hit, the Kettleers pitching staff was able to keep them in Monday’s game until the very end. Cotuit would eventually fall to Brewster 2-1 in an eight inning game. Cotuit (11-12) lost its third straight contest tonight, scoring just five runs during the losing streak.
Dalton Rogers (Southern Miss) and Ian Foggo (Lenoir-Rhyne) were both fabulous during the game, combining to throw 6.2 innings while giving up just four hits. This was a promising sign for Cotuit, as the Kettleers are looking for pitchers to emerge after the the MLB draft drained the staff.

Moments that mattered:
Kettleers take advantage of Brewster miscue, strike first
After being shutout for the first three innings, Cotuit was able to scratch across a run in the top of the fourth. Jace Grady (Dallas Baptist) led the inning off by reaching base via an error. The speedy Grady was able to advance to second on a wild pitch, and then third on a sacrifice fly to right. With Grady standing at third, Luke Gold (Boston College) hit a deep fly ball to center field to score Grady, and give Cotuit a 1-0 lead.
Foggo gets out of jam in the fifth
With the game tied in the fifth inning, Ian Foggo (Lenoir Rhyne) worked himself into a bases loaded jam with no outs. The reliever hunkered down from there, striking out the next two batters.

Then, with two outs, Foggo induced a weak fly ball that was caught by a diving Grady in center to end the inning.

Brewster makes clutch plays late
In the bottom of the seventh with two outs, Brewster centerfielder Spencer Jones knocked in a run to give the Whitecaps a 2-1 lead. Then, due to low light conditions, the umpires declared that the eighth inning would be the game’s last. Ryan Ritter (Kentucky) would reach base for Cotuit on a broken bat single, and advance to second on a wild pitch to put a Cotuit runner in scoring positions with just one out.

Brett Roberts (Florida State) worked a walk to put two aboard with one out. But the rally would end there, as Brewster would record two straight outs to close out the game.
