Cotuit player of the game: Eric Brown Jr. (Coastal Carolina) was the best player on the field in Falmouth from the start of the game. Brown started the scoring with a two-run home run to dead center in the first inning. He followed the home run with three singles. He drove in two runs and scored three times. Brown’s average rose to .276 on the night.
Cotuit pitcher of the game: Logan Maitland (UMass Dartmouth) settled the Commodores bats down in the middle innings. Maitland entered in the fourth inning after Falmouth plated three in the third. The right-handed pitcher stranded a runner on third for a scoreless inning. He stranded one more runner on in the fifth inning for his second straight scoreless frame. Maitland hasn’t allowed a run in his last 9.1 innings on the bump.
Play of the game: Brett Roberts (Florida State) drove in his second run of the game with a single through the right-side of the infield in the fifth inning. Roberts moved up to second on a heads-up base-running on a throw to third. When the throw got away from the third baseman, Roberts made his way around third and sped home for a little-league home run. The play scored three runs and extended Cotuit’s lead to four. Roberts finished the night with four hits.
