Score/result: Orleans 6-4 Cotuit

Kettleer pitcher of the game: Hambleton Oliver (Baylor) came in the game with the task of eating up innings and keeping the game close enough for the Ketts to make a comeback. Oliver did just that in his first appearance of the season. The righty worked three solid innings, surrendering just one run on two hits. Oliver did not strike many people out, he only had one, but was able to induce a lot of weak contact to keep Cotuit in the game.

Kettleer hit of the game: With one out and two on in the top of the sixth, Cole Cummings (UCSB) roped a bases clearing triple to dead center field to give the Kettleers a much needed offensive spark. The ball would have easily cleared the fence at most ballparks on the cape, but due to the unorthodox dimensions at Eldridge Park the ball was unable to get over the 434 foot center field wall.

Key stat: 5. That’s the number of free passes that Cotuit pitching surrendered in the bottom of the third inning. The half inning ended up being the demise of the Ketts, as Orleans was able to put four runs on the board while recording just two hits.

Cotuit: 4 runs / 9 hits / 2 errors

Orleans: 6 runs / 6 hits / 0 errors
