Oraj Anu (Kentucky), Adam Oviedo (Oral Roberts), and Donta Williams (Arizona) celebrate Anu’s home run in a 6-1 win over Wareham

D is for Division Rivals: In the West Division it’s been a three-horse race for most of the season between Cotuit, Falmouth, and Wareham. Recently Falmouth has pulled away from the pack with an impressive eleven game winning streak. But with a loss on Sunday at Bourne Falmouth gives both Wareham and Cotuit at least a chance to win the regular season division title. However, in all likelihood the Kettleers will play the Wareham Gatemen in the first round. The final four regular season games for the Kettleers come against Wareham and Falmouth, starting Monday night at Spillane Field in Wareham. It’s a huge game for both sides as Wareham currently holds the second seed and therefore home-field advantage in the first round of the playoffs by two points. With a win Cotuit could reclaim second place. The Kettleers will then finish the season off with three straight against the Falmouth Commodores.

Gonzales bats at Lowell Park

G is for Gonzales: Gonzales has owned the letter G for a reason. The All-Star second baseman leads the Kettleers in RBI (31), batting average (.348), home runs (7), hits (48), extra-base hits (20), and runs (36). Gonzales will undoubtedly be pivotal as Cotuit makes its playoff push. Missing base just once this season on July 9th, Gonzales has now reached safely in fourteen straight contests after starting the year with a 24 game on-base streak.

P is for Playoffs: The playoffs are just around the corner. The Kettleers have just four more games in the regular season before the club makes its push for a record extending seventeenth Cape League title. If the season ended today Cotuit would be set for a matchup with the Wareham Gatemen beginning on Friday, August 2nd in Wareham.
