Kettleers’ Shine at Fenway

It’s a league “Where the stars of tomorrow shine tonight,” but the Kettleers were shining in broad daylight at Fenway Park on Thursday morning.

A majority of Cotuit players took out there phones upon entering “America’s Most Beloved Ballpark” to capture the moment in the form of videos and pictures.

Much of the team boarded a bus at Lowell Park at 6 AM and arrived to workout in Boston for many MLB scouts a couple hours later.

The players ran sprints, took infield, outfield, batting practice, and even were given a tour of some of the facilities.

Five Kettleers homered during batting practice as MLB scouts looked on.

Dodd gets ready for a pitch at batting practice.

Mason Dodd (Belmont Abbey) was the first to go yard. Dodd hit one over the Granite City advertisement into the bullpen in right, and Matt Mervis (Duke) followed him with one down the right field line that traveled well past the Pesky Pole into the stands.

Two time Boston Red Sox draft pick, Oraj Anu (Kentucky), showed off his power as well with perhaps the deepest shot of all into the far left side of the bullpen in right center.

Christian Robinson (Stanford) who has lead off for the Kettleers the past two games showed off some pop as well taking one deep to right.

One Kettleer even “went bridge.” Casey Schmitt (San Diego State) sent a shot that entirely cleared the Green Monster in left.

Four players were individually worked out by the Red Sox themselves. Nick Gonzales (New Mexico State), Parker Chavers (Coastal Carolina), Joey Loperfido (Duke), and Oraj Anu.

It was a wonderful showing as the Kettleers got to display their many talents at the most storied Major League venue.

Cotuit will have a chance to shine back on Cape Cod on Friday night as the Kettleers (6-5-2) travel to Orleans (6-4-2) for a Late June matchup set to start at 7 PM.
