WAREHAM– As untimely injuries and departures begin to mount up for the Kettleers, they have been forced to find contributions from each member of the roster.
With the Kettleers trailing 3-1 in Wareham on Saturday, Wolforth stepped up to the plate with a runner on first and two outs on a 0-2 count.
It may not have been the best of terms for Wolforth, but he made sure it didn’t matter, driving a game-tying two-run home run over the fence to tie the game at three.
“Its been interesting because I hadn’t seen live pitching in almost a month,” said Wolforth. “I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I’ve just been trying to see the ball as well as I can.”
While he’s only played in three games thus far, Garrett Wolforth (Dallas Baptist) has begun to pick it up at the plate, as the catcher had three hits in the last two games prior to Saturday’s contest.

Garrett Wolforth (Dallas Baptist) has been doing a great job of seeing pitches, as shown above against Wareham on Saturday.
His contributions both as a hitter and catcher have not been lost on Mike Roberts, who lauded Wolforth’s efforts after the game.
“He really likes to compete and that’s exactly what we need,” said Roberts after the game. “He was hitting in the No. 3 spot, and it was kind of interesting to see him in that slot.”
Wolforth is in his second stint on the Cape, having previously played for the Bourne Braves in 2016. In 12 games with Bourne, Wolforth had 3 RBI’s for the Braves in only 28 at-bats.
Wolforth is a switch-hitting catcher from Spring, TX, and was drafted out of high school in the 33rd round of the 2015 MLB Draft by the Cleveland Indians. He hit .239 in 54 games for the Patriots this past season, with six home runs and 31 RBI’s, while slugging .410.
Garrett and the rest of the Kettleers have the day off on Sunday, as the Cape League All-Star Game will be played at Whitehouse Field in Harwich. They will travel to Chatham on Monday for a makeup game with the Anglers. First pitch from Veteran’s Field is set for 7:00 p.m.
