Behind five separate pitchers, Cotuit (1-8) lost to the Hyannis Harbor Hawks (2-7), 5-4, Sunday night at Lowell Park in Cotuit.

Justin Hooper (UCLA) got the start for Cotuit, and lasted two and one-third innings. Hooper allowed three runs on three hits, all earned, and was hit with the loss. He was followed by David Gerics (Pomona-Pitzer), who threw just three pitches in two-thirds of an inning, allowing no runs on no hits.

Trouble struck for Cotuit in the top of the fourth, when Cal Becker (Sonoma State) walked three straight Harbor Hawk batters. On the final walk, a wild-pitch ball four brought in a run, and Becker was pulled, making way for Ross Achter (Toledo). Achter threw three and two-thirds of an inning, allowing one run on four hits. The run was earned.

Aaron Maher (East Tennessee State) closed the game for Cotuit, tossing two innings and allowing no runs on no hits.

Offensively, the Kettleers scored their four runs on eight hits, three of which were from Alonzo Jones (Vanderbilt). Josh Shaw (St. Johns) had two hits for Cotuit, and Ryan Hagan (Mercer) rocked a solo home run in the eighth in the loss.

Charlie Barnes (Clemson) got the win for Hyannis, allowing just one run on one hit in five innings pitched.
