The Hyannis Harborhawks (5-7) topped the Kettleers (1-12) Friday night, 2-1, the Kettleers’ eight straight loss. Behind a stellar start from Kettleer right hander Keith Rogalla (Creighton), Cotuit almost mustered its second win of the season, but instead fell by just one run in a thriller at Mckeon Park in Hyannis.

Rogalla threw five and one-third innings for Cotuit, allowing two runs on three hits, both earned. His start was the longest start from a Kettleer pitcher this season. Rogalla was pulled in the sixth inning after retiring the leadoff Hyannis hitter, making way for Cal Becker (Sonoma State).

Coming off a two-inning shutout performance at Orleans Monday night, Becker flourished on the mound in relief, tossing two and two-thirds innings and allowing no runs on no hits. His relief appearance for Cotuit was the right hander’s longest appearance of the season, and his second no-decision.

Cotuit was no-hit by Hyannis starter Alex Eubanks (Clemson) for the first four innings Friday night, eventually mustering a hit in the top of the fifth on a bunt down the third base line from Ryan Hagan (Mercer).

Down 2-0 in the top of the seventh inning, Hagan reached base again for the Kettleers, this time on a walk. After a Dayton Dugas (Wichita State) strikeout, Pat Dorrian (Herkimer) stepped in for the Kettleers. On the first two pitches of the at-bat, Hagan stole second base and third base, scoring from third on the next pitch as Dorrian lined a two-out triple to deep right field.

The triple put Cotuit on the board, 2-1, but that’s where the score would remain, as the Kettleers’ bats stayed quiet for the remainder of the game.

With Garret Cave (Florida International) on the mound in the ninth for Hyannis, a Dorrian strikeout ended the game, as Cotuit lost it’s 12th game of the season, 2-1 to the Harborhawks.

Friday’s game was Cotuit’s third one-run game of the season; the Kettleers have lost all games decided by one run this season.
