  • Hyannis 5, Cotuit 2
  • Jay Baum (Clemson) delivered the game-winning hit for Hyannis in the top of the sixth inning in Sunday night’s 5-2 win. After a Jeff Schalk (Alabama Birmingham) walk and a Levi Borders (South Florida) double, Schalk delivered a 2-run single to put the Harbor Hawks up 4-2 at the time.
  • Hyannis starter Patrick Andrews earned his second victory of the Cape season. He went 7.0 strong innings while giving up 5 hits, 2 runs, and striking out four.
  • Jordan Foley (Central Michigan) and Eric Eck (Wofford) then each threw a scoreless inning to shut down Cotuit. Eck earned his fifth save of the season and 19 of his 21 pitches were sliders.
  • The Kettleers used five pitchers total on the night, the second-most they’ve used in any game all season long.
  • Tim Kiene belted his second home run of the season in the bottom of the second. He hit a 2-0 fastball to deep right to tie the game at one.
  • There were five lead changes in all. Hyannis took a 1-0 lead, Cotuit tied it at 1, Hyannis took a 2-1 lead off of a Slater sac-fly in the third, then Cotuit tied it again with a Mike Ford (Princeton) RBI single. Hyannis never looked back from Baum’s 2 RBI single in the sixth.
  • Ford was the only Kettleer with two hits on the night, raising his average to .369. He is now tied for second on the team with 9 RBI’s.
  • The Kettleers have now lost four of their last five and have fallen from first to third in the Western Division standings.
  • Adam Ravenelle (Vanderbilt) started his first game all year. He did mostly relief work in college this season, and made four appearances out of the ‘pen for Cotuit so far before the start. He went 3.0 innings, gave up three hits, two runs, and struck out two in the starting role.
  • Cotuit holds the season lead for the Patriots Cup at two games to one.
