FALMOUTH – The Cape Cod Baseball league is a pitchers league. Due to having to adjust to facing the nation’s best arms, and to hitting with a wood bat, hitters tend to see their production slightly decrease in their summer on the Cape.
Unfortunately for the Kettleers, the Falmouth Commodores offense has ignored that notion the past two days.
The Commodores scored 13 runs on 14 hits a day after slugging three home runs, and defeated the Kettleers for the second day in a row, this time by the final score of 13-6.

“I like their lineup a lot,” Roberts said of the Commodores sluggers. “They’ve proven they can get the ball up two days in a row, and do some damage that way. They’re very good.”
Falmouth hit two long balls in the game. The first belonged to Conner Hale (State Col of Florida Manatee-Sarasota), who hit a first pitch two-run homerun to the opposite field. He was 2-for-4 with four RBI’s.
Dylan Davis (Oregon St) hit the second, a grand slam in the bottom half of the sixth inning. It was his third homerun against the Kettleers in two games. He was 3-for-5 with the four RBI’s.
John Hochstatter (Stanford) got his first start of the season for Cotuit, only lasting 3.1 innings and giving up five earned runs.
“We left the ball up in the strike zone, and didn’t get in on their hands much,” Roberts said of the pitching staff. “The ball carried because of it.”
Yale Rosen (Washington State) led the Kettleers’ offensive charge on Independence Day, going 3-for-5 with two homeruns. He hit a three-run homer to center field in the top half of the sixth, and a two-run jack to right field in the eighth.
“My approach is just to see the ball and hit the ball,” Rosen said. “I got my timing back a bit today, and it felt good.”
Mike Ford also turned in a solid day at the dish. He went 4-for-4 with a walk, all four of his hits going for singles on his birthday.

Cotuit’s defense made two more errors tonight, and the pitching staff walked three batters in key moments.
“You always have to watch a see what the fourth out is,” Roberts said. “If you’ve got a walk, and error, or a hit batsman, this lineup (Falmouth) makes you pay. They’re that good.”
The Kettleers look to bounce back tomorrow night at the Y.D. Red Sox, first pitch is at 5 p.m.
“I like Y.D., it’s a very fun ballpark to play in,” Roberts said. “Every day is a new day in the sport of baseball. We have to just make some corrections, and that’s the fun of baseball.”
