COTUIT – Heading into the bottom of the seventh-inning Tuesday night at Lowell Park, the Kettleers’ offense had struggled. They trailed 2-1, and had been no-hit by Yarmouth-Dennis pitcher Erick Fedde through the first 4.2 innings.
Then, in the bottom of the seventh, things quickly changed.

Cotuit scored seven runs in the home-half and extended its winning streak to four games, defeating the Red Sox by the final of 8-3.
“Today we bunched them (the runs) up late in the game,” coach Mike Roberts said. “Obviously the righty from UNLV (Fedde) did really well for them early. You’ve got to get clutch hits, though, and we got them in the seventh inning.”
Galli Cribbs Jr. (Clarendon) started the rout when he was hit by a pitch with one out in the inning. After Kevin Bradley (Clemson) doubled, Bradley Zimmer (San Francisco) ripped a single down the first base line that scored both Cribbs Jr. and Bradley, giving the Kettleers a 3-2 lead.
Later in the inning, with the bases loaded, Mike Ford (Princeton) singled and plated both Zimmer and Rhett Wiseman (Vanderbilt), making it 5-2.
Yale Rosen (Washington State) was the next Kettleer to get in on the hit parade . He launched a double off of the right field fence that scored two.
Will Remmilard (Coastal Carolina) rounded out the inning for the Cotuit offense. He singled and drove in a run.
All in all it was a five-hit, three-walk inning for Mike Roberts’ club. All seven runs were charged to Yarmouth-Dennis reliever Kyle Wood (Purdue).
Bradley was the only player in the Kettleers’ lineup who had a multiple-hit night. He was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run. It was Bradley’s first and second hits of the season.
“It felt really good to grab those two hits,” Bradley said afterwards. “I’ve been in a bit of a slump, so it was nice to break out.”
Cotuit starter Jared Walsh (Georgia) pitched the first six innings. He gave up only 3 hits and struck out three while allowing no runs. His ERA is now at 0.87 two starts into the season.
“Jared does an outstanding job of changing speeds,” coach Roberts said. “I really like what I’m seeing from him. He really understands the game and how to pitch.”
Fedde went six innings for the Red Sox, allowing only four hits and one run, while striking out five. He left with the lead, and his ERA now stands at 0.71 two starts into the season.
Dusty Isaacs (Georgia Tech) got the win for the Kettleers. He threw the seventh innings, giving up two hits and two runs (one earned).
Brian Miller (Vanderbilt) toed the hill for the last two innings, giving up only one run on two hits.
With the win the Kettleers move to 5-1 on the season. They are currently riding a 4-game hit streak.
“I think we’re playing really well right now,” Bradley said. “We’ve been working hard at practice and it’s shown lately.”
Cotuit takes the field in Orleans tomorrow. First pitch is at 7 p.m.
