COTUIT – An estimated 30 youngsters ages 6-12 spent a sunny Sunday morning at Cotuit’s Lowell Park competing in the annual Hit, Pitch, Run, and Throw challenge. 23 athletes were recognized for achievement during a pre-game ceremony at that night’s Kettleers game.
Bob Scotti directed the event, and served as the public address announcer. He was assisted by Cotuit Kettleers interns and volunteers.
Four stations tested versatility in baseball/softball related events. Hits off a tee were measured for distance after the roll. Competitors then threw for distance in the outfield, and speed in the bullpen, as well as sprinting 100 feet for time.
A $10 dollar entry fee admitted each child into the event. Age group winners received trophies, and all participants received a ribbon.
