#5 MIKE ROBERTS • FIELD MANAGER

Coach Roberts returns to Cotuit for his fourth season in 2007, on the heels of a Western Division Playoff appearance and respectable 27-16-1 record. Roberts’ second place regular and postseason finish marked the third trip the CCBL field manager has taken to the playoffs in five seasons (lifetime). Roberts was the field manager for the Wareham Gatemen (1984 and 2000).

Mike sends this special message to the Kettleers family, “I have personally dedicated the 2006 Cape League Season to all the former Kettleers players who have cherished their experience playing at historic Lowell Park, have put their arms around the wonderful families who house them each summer, have stayed in contact through the years, and have set the bar high for future players and coaches. My father, who passed away in 2005 at the age of 93, was my coach and he taught me to maintain these same high standards and respect for the game and everyone involved with the game. As the Head Coach of the 2006 Kettleers, I will strive to carry out these goals. We will hustle and slide our way into the hearts of the Kettleers faithful.”

From 1976 through 1998, Roberts was the head coach at the University of North Carolina. From the UNC Tarheels, Roberts went on to UNC-Asheville, where he coached in the spring of 2000. All totalled, Roberts’ teams have made nine NCAA post-season appearances and two College World Series appearances. His teams have also had a strong history of being tops amid their ACC peers, five times capturing the ACC Regular Season Championship and four times the ACC Tournament Championship. Eight of Roberts’ former players have been first round draft picks in the annual Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft. Fifteen of his former players have played in Major League Baseball. His lifetime collegiate coaching record is 850-450-3. His lifetime greatest individual coaching success is his own son, Brian Roberts, 2nd baseman for the Baltimore Orioles.

Prior to managing Wareham to the Western Division regular season title in 2000, Roberts had led Wareham to the same title in 1984. Each of those two seasons, Roberts’ Cape League teams led the entire League in stolen bases. In 2000, Roberts’ Wareham team tied the Cape League all-time single season stolen base record.

In the off-season, Mike is a consultant working as an Executive Coach with DeLaPorte & Associates out of Dallas, TX.

Devin McIntosh • Assistant Coach • Longview University

Coach McIntosh is assistant coach at Lincoln University in Jefferson City, Missouri, where he is responsible for the pitching staff and assists with recruiting and field maintenance while coaching first base during games.

McIntosh served as pitching coach and recruiting coordinator for two years at LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas. Under his guidance, the Yellow Jacket pitching staff reduced staff ERA and total walks. While raising the performance of the pitching staff, McIntosh coached two of his pitchers into the professional ranks.

McIntosh is a 2004 graduate of LeTourneau University where he was a submarine pitcher for the baseball team. A native of Arlington, Texas, McIntosh recently completed a Master’s Degree in health and kinesiology from the University of Texas at Tyler.

Aaron Rembert • Assistant Coach • Mars Hill College

Aaron serves as the pitching coach, recruiting coordinator, head JV Coach, and oversees the strength and conditioning program at Mars Hill College in Mars Hill, NC. In his first coaching season the team set numerous school records, including wins (32), saves (16), and ERA (5.44).

In college at UNC Asheville, he set the record for the most wins in school history with 24 and most wins as a freshman with nine. He also placed in the top five in career saves strikeouts, appearances and innings pitched. Rembert was the first freshman at UNCA to receive All-American honors.

Aaron signed a professional contract with the River City Rascals of the Frontier League. He also played summer league baseball with the North Adams Steeplecats of the New England Collegiate League (2003), Mat-su Miners of the Alaska League (2002), and the Lenoir Oilers of the Southern Collegiate Baseball League (2001).

Rembert and his wife Angela, who is a math teacher at Madison High School, live in Mars Hill, NC.

Kevin Wilson • Assistant Coach

Kevin attended the University of Cincinnati, where he helped lead the Bearcats to a team record in wins in 2000. The switch-hitting shortstop was signed by the Chicago White Sox and played for several teams in his 5 year professional career. In 2006, he was in camp with the Pittsburgh Pirates and retired at the completion of the 2006 season, after playing for the Lancaster Barnstormers of the Atlantic League.

Currently, Kevin is an advanced scout for Inside Edge, which provides all 30 MLB teams with advanced scouting reports throughout the 2007 season. He also is the Director of Instruction at Jeff Manto’s Big Leagues Baseball Academy, located outside of Philadelphia that he co-founded with Jeff.

Sarah Batz • Athletic Trainer • Cape Cod Rehabilitation

A Certified Athletic Trainer with a Master’s of Education Degree in Kinesiology with Sport Management option from Southern Illinois University, Sarah also has a B.S. Degree in Health Management with Athletic Training option from Southeast Missouri State University where she provided medical coverage for several Division 1 teams. She has worked at Healthsouth Orthopedic Rehabilitation Clinic and Rehab One The Physical Therapy Center, where her duties included assisting physical therapists with rehab and orthopedic treatments. Sarah will also be working with Cape Cod Rehabilitation in Mashpee this summer. She is a life member of the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society and National Athletic Trainer Association.

Baseball Career, Scholastic, and Collegiate Highlights: Drafted in the 37th round of the 2006 Major League Baseball Draft by the Minnesota Twins, Aaron decided to enroll at Oklahoma University. During the summer of 2006, Aaron played for the Lake Highland Wildcats in the Connie Mack World Series where he won the home run derby. In high school, he was a .420 career hitter with 21 home runs and 120 RBIs. Grandfather played for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Held a 2.86 ERA, while limiting opponents to a .152 batting average. Earned relief win against Cleveland State (3/11) after hurling three shutout innings with a season-high four strikeouts. Struck out the side in single inning of work at Kentucky (3/7).

2006 Season (Sophomore): Contributed as both an outfielder and a pitcher. Made most significant contributions on the mound, appearing in 12 games, including six starts. Earned first victory in first-ever starting nod at Ohio (4/5), pitching three shutout innings. Also got victory after career-best six innings against Dayton (4/19). Mike appeared in 18 games for the University of South Carolina with 14 starts compiling a 7-5 record with a 3.96 ERA and was a team leader with 88.2 innings pitched with 76 strikeouts.

Baseball Career, Scholastic and Collegiate Highlights: OU freshman reliever Garrett Richards was among forty players named to the midseason watch list for the third annual National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award, the association announced on April 19, 2007. The award will be given to the top relief pitcher in Division I college baseball. Richards is tied for first in the Big 12 with nine saves. That mark already ranks in a tie for fourth place at OU for a single season and it’s tied for fifth best in a career by a Sooner. In his 19 appearances, Richards (1-0) has struck out 18 batters over 19 1/3 innings pitched. In the series finale against Texas A&M, he tossed a career-high 4 2/3 to record his first career victory. HIGH SCHOOL: Three-year letterwinner at St. Rita of Cascia High School … was a two-time first-team all-state selection, garnering the honors as a junior and senior … batted .509 as a senior, with seven home runs and 42 RBI … hit at a .519 clip during his junior season, connecting on 14 home runs and driving in 47 runs … earned two letters in football.

Baseball Career, Scholastic, and Collegiate Highlights: In his second season with LMU, Brian is the top returner in pitching appearances (24) and top returning reliever in innings pitched (46.1) with opponents hitting just .264 off him. Week of 4/30/07, Brian was named West Coast Conference Pitcher of the week in addition to posting the game winning home run to give the Lions a 5-4 lead over Santa Clara. As a freshman he played in 50 games as a pitcher, designated hitter and outfielder, and was third in batting average hitting .315. In high school, he was named the San Diego Player of the Year by the Union Tribune and the North Country Times.

Personal… Brian Matthew Wilson was born January 16, 1987, in Sacramento, CA… son of Phyllis and Raymond Wilson… father played football at Cornell… has two brothers, Raymond Jr. and Michael… also recruited by Cal State Fullerton, San Diego, University of Arizona, Arizona State and Texas Christian University…a business administration major.

Baseball Career, Scholastic, and Collegiate Highlights: After finishing the 2006 season as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division Rookie of the Year, Matt was selected as a pre-season All-American by Collegiate Baseball Magazine. In 2006 he tied for second in PSAC victories (7-1). In 68 innings of work, he posted a 1.99 ERA and averaged 10.9 strikeouts per nine innings. For the week of 4/9/07, Matt was named PSAC Western Division Pitcher of the week after limiting Indiana (PA) to one run on five hits while striking out eight. The following week Wright threw seven shutout innings against California (PA) while striking out eight and walking none. He has now improved to 7-1 in eight career starts against PSAC West opponents pitching 52 innings, and striking out 67.
