HYANNIS, MA — The Cotuit Kettleers took a giant step toward earning a coveted playoff spot last night at McKeon Park, downing the host Hyannis Mets, 6-4. The win placed Cotuit (19-16-2) in a two-way tie with Wareham in second place in the Western Division, and three points shy of first place Bourne.

The Kettleers plated three runs in both the fourth and fifth innings to give Missouri’s Nathan Culp (2-1) his second Cape League victory this season.

Top hitters for Cotuit included Arizona’s Jason Donald (1-2, RBI), Delaware’s Todd Davison (2-4), Tennessee’s Julio Borbon (1-4) and Brown’s Devin Thomas (1-3, RBI).

The Kettleers host Falmouth today at home (Friday, July 29) at 2 p.m.
