WAREHAM, MA — The Kettleers ended in a 7-7 tie last night at Clem Spillane Field versus Wareham, in a game that boasted 28 hits between the two teams and left both teams with identical 15-14-2 records and tied for second place in the Western Division behind the division-leading Bourne Braves.
With no runs being scored by either team after the sixth inning, this game turned into a 13-inning marathon that featured 11 pitchers between both teams and lasted four hours and 34 minutes, almost to midnight.
Some 7,210 fans attended the game, but many of the fans cleared out by the end of the game, leaving those remaining in attendance wondering when it would end. It finally did end, tied, 7-7.
Top hitters for Cotuit included Alabama’s Emeel Salem (2-6, RBI), Arizona’s Brad Boyer (2-6, 3 RBI), Notre Dame’s Sean Gaston (2-5) and Arizona’s Jason Donald (2-4). Top batsmen for Wareham included Lance Salsgiver and Joel Collins who both went 3-5 on the night.
Cotuit heads to Brewster tonight to play at 5:00 p.m.
